Children’s activities come to Holmfirth Civic Hall

With the summer months approaching the new team at Holmfirth Civic Hall were keen to ensure that some activities suitable for children formed part of the programme of events for the hall.  There is a lot going on at the hall on a week to week basis, but little of it involves children and the team were keen to change that.  Some canvassing of local people took place and a number of suggestions were made, holiday clubs, treasure hunts, roller discos to name but three – and the hall are delighted to announce that all of those suggestions have been taken up.

The first treasure hunt took place at the beginning of June and was well attended and well received by the children who came along and their families, so we’re pleased to be running another one in the summer holidays – on 3rdAugust – registration at the hall from 10.30am, £2.00 per child (adult supervision required). The treasure hunt will take a walking route in and around Holmfirth and is suitable for those on foot, or in a pram! No booking required, just go along and enjoy the fun!

On Friday 20thJuly the hall brings its first Roller Disco – in collaboration with Super Funk two sessions will run from 4.30pm to 6.00pm for children and families (all children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult), and from 6.00pm to 7.30pm for teens, families and adults. Tickets start at £5.00 for an individual or £18.00 for a family and can be purchased direct from the hall or online via WeGotTickets – children and families session (http://www.wegottickets.com/event/443869) or teens, families and adults session (http://www.wegottickets.com/event/443873).  Tickets must be purchased in advance, but fun is guaranteed – so get booking and get boogeying!

The hall are also delighted to be working with Project Sport to bring holiday clubs to the hall during the summer holidays – Project Sport will be running their Olympics programme for three days in three consecutive weeks during August and bookings are now being taken via their online booking platform (http://www.projectsport.org.uk/?s=civic). It is the first time that Project Sport have provided an indoor programme in Holmfirth and a good turnout is expected, so book early to avoid disappointment.

The hall will review all of these activities and take some of the other suggestions into account in order to determine what future activities to put on for children, but do get in touch if you have any other ideas – Dawn and Liz are available between 10am and 3pm each week day and will be only too happy to show you around.
