Come and join in with some working groups looking at all areas of the plan, working towards an action plan.
Following the declaration of a Climate Emergency by Holme Valley Parish Council on 25 March 2019, local councillors, volunteers and interested groups have come together to write a draft Action Plan. Please have a read of the Action Plan because we need your help with it. You can also read the Strategy document for the Action Plan.
The draft Plan sets out an initial set of actions for the following areas:
- Business and Industry
- Transport and Travel
- Waste and Resources
- Food and Agriculture
- Housing and Infrastructure
- Environment and Land Use
Lots of work has gone into this already but the draft plan needs still more work. We need ideas and contributions from everyone in the Holme Valley to develop the critical actions that will make the differences we need to see.
The Climate Emergency Working Group hopes that people will engage with the plan, want to talk about it and do something about it. Climate change will be slowed both by the tiny actions of each and every one of us, as well as by bold initiatives. We should all be working locally to fix this global crisis.
We are gathering at Holmfirth Civic Hall from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday 13 October to run a series of workshops on the Climate Emergency.
Come along to get your views incorporated in the plan.
The Climate Emergency Working Group will then present the final Climate Emergency Action Plan to Holme Valley Parish Council for ratification at the Special Council meeting on Monday 28th October.
